Recogniing the top stories of 2024 on July 30 at Japanese Cultural Center

The 2024 Hawaii Society of Professional Journalists Excellence in Journalism awards dinner will be held July 30 in the fifth-floor ballroom of the Japanese Cultural Center, 2454 S. Beretania St.

Robbie Dingeman and Keoki Kerr will again emcee the awards dinner. Dustin Malama is putting together the awards video. Bamboo Catering is preparing the food.

The chapter awards the best in Hawaii journalism for 2024. The Louisville SPJ Chapter is judging our contest, and the Hawaii Chapter in turn judged Louisville's contest. (Please see below)

First, second and third places will be awarded.

This year features cash awards from A-Mark Foundation for investigatie reporting and from Ulupono for sustainabilityy reporting.

Registration will begin at 6 p.m. And dinner is expected to start by 6:45 p.m. The awards presentation should start about 7:30 p.m.

Intern Coordinator Craig DeSilva will introduce some of our 9 summer interns to also attend.

Cost is $73 per member, student or member of a table of eight ($584). Nonmembers pay $80 each. Checks can be mailed to the Hawaii Chapter SPJ at P.O. Box 3141, Honolulu, HI 96802 or given at the door.
